Woah Aaron, I can understand everything except for Cowboy Dan and Convenient parking. :shock: Actually, I might give you Convenient Parking but NOT Cowboy Dan! That song ROCKS! Anyway, I'll think of my list shortly but I can promise you that Cowboy Dan will not be on it. :p

as far as ones i don't like, maybe a few off SSS are kinda crappy, and I'm not crazy about "dirty fingernails" or "head south."

I think thier "harder to listen to" songs just help to seperate thier fans who like underground music and the fans who just like modest mouse, thats why there "hard to listen to" for these people they clash with what they are used to hearing. It's not an insult to like more mainstream music liking underground music does not mean you are smarter or anything else, it's just a preference.
I like more experimental music so these songs don't sound "hard to listen to" to me. I like bands that play nothing but power tools for fucks sake, this shit is sanatra to me.

In fact if I had to pick songs that are hard to listen to for me it would be the more indie esqe songs like trailer trash a song I love but it was a little too musical for me at first.

I get into a depression state of mind (sorta a good thing btw) when I listen to Trailer Trash. I can't say why exactly, but it just moves me and makes me think of things that have gone wrong in my life. I do love this song and find myself constantly plugging this song when explaining to others why I love MM so much.

those are some of my favorite songs..and especially sleepwalkin', even though they ripped it off. cowboy dan, convenient parking, lives, styrofoam boots...great songs i'd say i'm not a big fan of much of SSS except think long, mice eat cheese, it always rains on a picnic, and #1. i'm not a big fan of dirty fingernails, life of artic sounds (i think that's the title...the one about driving in a car), and being that i'm horrible with song titles, i'll just stop right there...i think their worst album is, of course,SSS and the best is a toss up between building nothing out of something, long drive, and the moon and anarctica

i cant say really there is one song i completely hate. im not a fan of "the air" but its just an intstrumental and continuations of lives.

there are some songs off long drive that i skip, but none that i really HATE. i love me some modest mouse :tu:

The one and only Modest Mouse song that I don't totally love is that song from Sad Sappy Sucker with the loud irritating sounds called Sucker Bet. But I still respect the bravery of it.

Convenient Parking is way too long and repetitve. It was be a really good song if it was 2 minutes instead of 4. Its repetition reminds me of the song that doesn't end.

LCW and M&A are my favorite albums depending on what mood I'm in. Good news is a real good album all songs are good, only a few great though.

All modest mouse songs are incredible. There is only one that im not too fond of and thats the world at large and i can't listen to float on without feeling irritated.Does anyone else feel that way? And how could any of ou not like truckers atlas. I have to admit that when i first bought lonesome crowded west that i thought most of the songs didnt really capture me but now i love every song on that album and i think i can comfortably say that its one of my favorite albums of all time.

But it seems to me that maybe some of the songs you guys have listed, you just havent listened to enough. MM is a band you have to really listen to. Ive said it before but MM is not a good backround music unless you've allready heard the song your listening to. This is not to say for every song just with most. Like Make Everyone Happy/Mechanical Birds, you have to really listen to that song or listen to it multiple times before it sets in. But when it does, whooooooooo buddy. I listen to this song every night before i go to sleep. And with SSS, you have to have fully accepted Isaacs high voice in albums above long drivel. If there are a few Isaac notes that make you wince, SSS will kill you. I love it :tu:

I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm a guitar player and I like different guitar techniques, but I love the REALLY long songs where he just jams on his guitar for like 3 min straight. Even if it's just some funky squeeling sounds, I love it! I get lost in it and it takes me away to another place. It leaves my head spinning like I smoked a blunt or something. :music: = 8-)

I'll read more of this thread when I've got more time... but I have to say that Sleepwalking... I usually skip, not because I don't like it... but it bores me and I'm usually not in the mood for such a sweet and sad song. Same goes for "Bankrupt on Selling" I cannot listen to it. Can't. I get heartaches from just the two or three seconds I hear before I realize what it is and I have to change it.

And in regards to Sad Sappy Sucker, the better question would be "Which songs do you like." because there really are very few that I can listen to from that album.
