View Full Version : The good quality leak of Good News is not the final mix!

After listening to the good quality leak of Good News I strongly believe that it is not the final mix, something similar to the first leak of Radiohead's HTTT. Let me expose my reasons:
1. On the horns intro there is a laugh that on the radio version wasn't present or buried on the mix.
2. World at Large has a different mix. The intro guitar is buried on the mix compared with the radio version.
3. Why on the leak the side b of Float On appears as the 6 song. Probably it was intended originally for the album but dropped at a latter stage.
4. Blame it on the Tetons is definetely a different version. It doesn´t sound as alive as the radio leak. Also is longer (6:21 vs. 5:24 of the radio leak).
5. There is an extra verse on Black Cadillacs not available on the radio leak.
6. The mix of Good Times are Killing Me is definetely different.
In general, the slower songs sound different (ans not as good) to my ears (World at Large, Blame it on the Tetons). I know the radio leak has an inferior quality (is a radio rip!!) but there are notiocable differences beyond that, and I know there are more that I haven't notice.

well i might have got a weird copy but my good quality version was missing Float on but had an extra song? Doesn't matter if it's the final version because I'm going to buy it when it comes I just need something to tide me over until then.

yeah that could be... im noticing a difference, too. i really hope they at least turn up the vocals in bury me with it in the chorus, cuz it sounds kinda wierd that way. but the biggest difference in the versions is the end of black cadillacs... im pretty sure theyll cut that out or re-do it, since it just sounds bad. and good times is pretty close to the same, just the beginning is cut out.
who knows

the beginning of "good times" isn't cut out, it's just at the end of "one chance", which I think sounds better anyway and is probably the way it was on the cd played on the radio; the person who recorded it off the radio probably just split the tracks up differently than it is on the cd when converting the recording to mp3s..

I have no idea what version I have... I believe the site said it was a radio version, but it doesn't sound like it. It still sounds kind of unfinished like raw but anyway, the intro doesn't have it, but the same horns in the beginning of The Devil's Workday have the laugh.

considering the radio leak was the world premier of the record... something 107.7 the end in seattle has done in the past numberous times
its going to be exactly the same, just better quality do to the fact that its cd quality not radio quality...
and if you don't like the mix, boo fricken hooo

....that's exactly what "Bolardito" was saying in this post.....
there is a another leak of the album that is CD quality, and he/she was saying that the cd quality leak is not the final version because there are differences (other than sound quality) between that and the radio leak, and the radio one is probably the real one..

actually, i beg to differ. i think the good quality version IS the final mix, yeah its different, but these sound more polished, and all around better. why would MM take that extra stuff out of the final version? i dunno i guess well know april 6th...

I kinda hope that the good quality leak is not the final mix, if it is, it was recorded, mixed and mastered very poorly. To my ears it does not sound like a band that is on a "major label". I have listed to the producers work with other bands and they sound much more pro then this album does so im keeping my fingers crossed.
