Default IMPORTANT! Modest Mouse Cover Band

I have been listening to MM for about 4 years. I instantly became infatuated when I heard Dramamine. It changed my life.

I picked up a guitar and learned. The thing is, the way I learned was to listen to MM and recreate it. All I can play is MM stuff, but I play it to the T. I would NEVER play an MM song if it wasnt PERFECT.

I quickly learned, that most of the vintage Mouse stuff, I will never hear live again. This depresses me, as Im sure it does my other Mouse brethren.

The reason Im putting this out, is I want to form a strictly live MM cover band. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE ISAAC. I JUST LOVE MM AND FEEL PPL NEED TO HEAR THE OLD SHIT. I have gotten really good (not trying to sound arrogant) at playing this shit, and I want to know your alls opinions on this idea. Would you go? I may not be able to sing just like Isaac, but its close, and I can PROMISE the music will sound DAMN verbatim as I can make it. This is for MM fans. Not 14 yr old TRL watchers.

Another reason Im putting this out, is that I need to find a drummer and bassist in the midwest to play. I've played with some friends, but they arent passionate about it. IM A PERFECTIONIST, SO IF YOU CAN PLAY, IT HAS TO BE PERFECT. I could never defile MM by playing shitty. Anyone play or know someone obsessed w. playing MM and is passionate about it? Wont be playing much new stuff, so I only really need those 2, maybe a guest guitarist here and there for a few songs, but mainly the 3.

As of now, here is a list of songs that I can play on guitar and would be played at the shows-

Point A to Point B
Mice Eat Cheese
Wrong Decision
Dramamine
Custom Concern
Might
Lounge
Beach Side Property
Head South
Dog Paddle
Novocain Stain
Exit Does Not Exist
Talking Shit about a Pretty Sunset
Edit the Sad Parts
Interstate 8
Broke
Positive Negative
Grey Ice Water
Baby Blue Sedan
Teeth Like Gods Shoeshine
Convenient Parking
Closing Time (Need 2nd Guitarist to sound perfect)
Cowboy Dan
Trailer Trash
Out of Gas
Truckers Atlas
Polar Opposites
Bankrupt on Selling
3rd Planet
Perfect Disguise
I came as a Rat
Lives
White Lies Yellow Teeth
Night on the Sun
The Waydown
Sunspots in the House of the Late Scapegoat
The world at Large (2nd guitarist to be perfect)

I learn more every day. Its been my hobby for a long time. Give me honest opinions. Thanks. Peace.

-LK

Entropy21 I have been playin an axe for bout for years, initially i began wth dave mathhews stuff, and then got turned onto mouse--!! I was able to play brocks licks quiet easy as I had painstakingly read and selftaught tablature with the dave...dave has his own unique chord shapes and switched time sig. and whatnot and with that the 'simplness' of mouse I looked everything up!
First I heard was of course float on and the rest of good news but after getting to know the album and cooking my noodle with the shrewd lyrics I needed more....Then came the goldmine(ONE of them that is) Long Drive.....Ever since, all i play is mouse...If i pick the guitar up right now i could play with you on----

Mice Eat Cheese
Dramamine

Novocain Stain

Im 19. I myself used to live in the West, (Arizona) and I also spent some time in Florida, Philly, and Iowa. For 2 years Ive been in Indianapolis and attend Ball State Univ. in Muncie. Its GREAT to hear someone that actually plays mouse. My buddies give me shit all the time that thats all I play. They dont get it like we do. BSP was my favorite song for a while, and its actually pretty easy to play. I love playing the slow part and the creepy ass chord at the end w. the lead. It would be great to just jam out, and possibly, if I ever find a Green-like rhythm drummer, to have another guitarist. Where u live now if you hail 4m Marion?

And Long Drive is without a doubt my favorite MM album. Saturated in Emotion. Novocain Stain is my child hood. Fucking malls taking over the beautiful trees and creeks. If I ever do get a cover band together-that will be played at every show.

You're 19 and somehow manage to retain the intelectual footprint of an agroculturally ignorant plastic palm tree on an 12 year old's Aladdin birthday cake. Please make a decent attempt at constructing thoughtful posts that make sense, and then whipe the smug smile you must have in posting your enduring capabilities and take a class in humbling. Your ego smells like putrid milk.

Have you ever figured to record yourself so that your MAD SKILLZ that are so PERFECT but not trying TO BE ISAAC lol nstuff? I'm sure I could take you a little more seriously when you stake such claims if you've got a little proof to boot.

Ya know, you dont fucking know me. Dont make accusations when you dont know fucking shit. I never said I had "MAD SKILLZ". I simply just wanna fucking play music, MM music at that. I made some recordings about a year ago, but they are one, instrumental, and two, not as good as Id like to throw out, but I will post the motherfucker if you tell me how. It is an AIFF audio file. So why dont you give me some advice on how to post it and Ill do it you judemental asshole. Seriously, WTF does my age have to do w. anything?

MY EGO?!?!?! THE REASON I POSTED THIS WASNT TO SAY "HEY I CAN PLAY MODEST MOUSE SHIT!" IT WAS TO ASK OTHER MM FANS IF THEY WOULD GO TO A SHOW PLAYED BY NON MM MEMBERS BUT IT WAS OLD SHIT. YOURE MAKING ME OUT TO BE AN EGOTISTICAL PRICK WHEN I CLEARLY STATED IM NOT TRYING TO COME OFF THAT WAY.

Hell yea man. Im glad to hear you understand Im just a lover of MM guitar Music and want someone to Jam with me. Fuck this BSG guy. Thats the last thing I wanted ppl to think ya know. I got a buddy that I playd w., he was a drummer and guitarist and I had to beg him always to play for me cuz he always wanted to play guitar. HA. Edit the Sad Parts is a VERY emotional tune indeed "Sometimes all I really wanna feel is love/Sometiems Im angry that I feel so angry" hit me like a semi when I heard it. Good to hear from someone positive man.

Hey bro you didnt come off arrogant to me man...Confident but not like you shit didn't stink...dont know what to say bout ol boy for the sole purpose that pointing out others shortcomings is not appealing to me...No need for, unless you were a teenybop float on lover and listen to but dont HEAR the music, to talk shit to no one...we are all the same people- so what you dislike about one man is a reflective mirror on oneself on some aspect...

"Things were going wrong from the beginning, and no one was losing and no one was winning they just fucked....each other...up.."
